Herren Regionalliga Bayern

München Großhadern, 10. April 2010, Bericht: Joseph Bray

München RFC II : RC Bad Reichenhall
05 : 21

The unfortunate postponement of the 1st team match meant that Munich opted to reward its most regular trainers and select a mix of first and second team players to take on Bad Reichenhall in the Regionaliga. Having suffered a heavy 58:12 defeat to the opponents during the first half of the season, the Munich team went into the match determined to turn things around. Munich suffered the worst possible of starts when good Bad Reichenhall interplay in the Munich twentytwo culminated in a in a short range forward surge to open the scoring for the visitors. No conversion. Shortly afterwards, a probing kick into Munich territory was supported by an excellent chase from the visitor’s three quarter line. The pressure of the chase prompted a Munich fumble, allowing Bad Reichenhall to gather and score their second try of the half. This, an example of how an organised chase can cause disruption and bring try scoring opportunities. The conversion just going wide. Munich managed to gain some cleaner possession and pull themselves back into the game with a score just before half time. Jens Seemuller scored but unsucessfull conversion. The second half saw Munich play with greater pace and continuity. Opportunities were created and breaks made. Unfortunately, a combination of lacking composure and bad luck meant that the final pass did not go to hand and they were unable to cross the try line and score the desperately needed points. Large credit should go to the visitors Bad Reichenhall, who played with great tenacity, confidence and a willingness to keep attacking the Munich line - keeping the ball in hand. With 2 converted penalties, strong running from the Bad Reichenhall number 8 and good work around the rucks, allowed Bad Reichenhall to keep both the  momentum and overall control of the match. A further try put them 2 scores in front and then with Munich down to 14 men, more space opened up, allowing Bad Reichenhall to score a further well worked try. This putting the result in no doubt, a convincing win for Bad Reichenhall.
Munich return to action next Saturday when they take on Ulm at home in the Regionaliga.
