Stuttgart, 26. März 2011, Bericht: Alan Moughty

Stuttgarter RC : München RFC
23 : 19

After eventually arriving in Stuttgart a little late after some epic traffic issues, MRFC intended to turn a new leaf and front up as a team after the previous 2 defeats.
Starting slowly Munich let Stuttgart score two tries due to poor tacklng in the back line before we managed get on the board with two well executed penalty kicks from Thomas Hensel. After going down to another try Munich started comitting more to tackles and playing to our gameplan. By the end of the 1st half Munich were applying pressure to the Stuttgart defense and were playing the game in the Stuttgart half. Half time score was 17 - 6
At the start of the second half Munich played much harder and were rewarded with a score from Alan Moughty who took the ball from the base of a scrum and managed to score in the corner for an unconverted try. After this Munich gave away several weak penalties which allowed the Stuttgart team to move down into the Munich half where they then converted more penalties to points. Throughout the second half of the game the Munich team were playing much better but unfortunately we were unable to take the lead. Towards the end of the half Marzen Hab was released into space by some good handling and he then managed to beat the last defender and score again in the corner for another 5 points.
At the end of the game, Munich were still unable to convert their pressure into further points and the final score was 23 - 19 to Stuttgart.
