München RFC : Heidelberger TV
25 : 18

Despite the beautiful blue sky that scares so many of the English, nobody was here for fun. More than a critical game for the team, it was also the last for several players such as our captain Antoine Miguet.
it was a Perfect start for the MRFC (Nice kick off Fred!), with a wonderful move of our number 8 who broke through the entire defense, Ramathan scored the first try of the afternoon (he played with his heart). « Since the beginning » MRFC had kept a tight reign on the game. Due to that, attacks and breaks had come one after the other until Rama’s one. After a turnover in our fourty, Rama got the ball in the 22 of our opponents and « this time » he decided to « eat the paper » and lost the ball. However, MRFC maintained the pressure and after a great maul Antoine Miguet (o’Captain my captain) scored the second try. This try should remind him his true place. After two tries, our boys foresaw a very easy game. Nevertheless, the 15 of Heidelberger brought back our team to reality. After a kick from our 22, the 15 broke through our line and scored the only try of the visitors (12-5). The legend says that the grounds keeper is still looking for Robin’s ankles… However, in spite of his desability, Robin scored the third try after a great move of the team (20-8). Spectators could enjoy great moves from different sports such as NFL tricks with Schranz’ s spinning-top, or football simulation with Bernard.
During the second half, visitors put MRFC under pressure with 1 drop goal. Despite another try from Hugo, Heidelberger caught up with us (25-18), monopolised the ball and MRFC had to defend. During this stressful span, spectators enjoyed a dramatic tackle from Schiller and a good team defense. Last line out for the visitors, the ref claimed : « last action », Hugo caught the ball, Antoine kicked the ball out… an epitome of French flair ! Oh Wait, it was not « last action » but « last minute », thanks Antoine for showing to everybody the real definition of French flair ! After a last fraught minute, the ref finally whistled the end of the game. MRFC won !

Stuttgarter RC : München RFC
22 : 47

Chapter One: A week before…
On Saturday 27th of October, MRFC lead by Miguet could take the best over Stusta after a thrilling ending with a Hugo’s try on the last action of the game.
Chapter Two: Saturday
In a period of holidays in Bavaria, numbers were cut short, and it’s with 16 players – rapidly cut short to 15, after the injury in warm-up of Adam glasslegs Popperwell – that Munich travelled to the Mercedes country. Even injuried, Mr. Popperwell put all his qualification and experience for the group, and therefore the team could enjoy the assistance of a nearly professional waterboy from the side of the pitch.
Chapter Three: 2pm
Kick-off was given by PEB (good old Paul-Émile Bernard) at exactly 2pm in Stuttgart. It’s under nearly perfect conditions that the game began: 14.3 °C with a 7mph South-East – East Wind and 62% humidity.
Immediately, Stuttgart got hands on the ball, and didn’t spill it away. Patient, they began to build some little heaps. Rock after rock, pile after pile, they could gain some terrain bringing the leather near the entrance of MRFC’s 22. Still sleepy from the journey, MRFC gave Stuttgart a penalty after a generosity offside. The home team didn’t spill that occasion to open the meter and score the first three points of a long game.
Chapter Four: Some minutes later…
We didn’t have to wait long in the game to see to flies changing to the other donkey. Indeed, after a properly dominated scrum on Stuttgart’s 5-meters line, Ramathan Govule took the ball in position number 8, and saying briefly “hello” to his opponent waiting on the try line could score down the first points of MRFC. Still setting up his foot, Fred “Yonel” Bégard managed to fail his first kick of the season putting MRFC with a short 3-5 advance.
MRFC didn’t rest on their laurels after this try, and took assault of Stuttgart’s wall again and again. Soon after they were hammering Stuttgart’s last defense lines, and during that intense phase of battle, on a tackle an opponent’s arm slightly slept and end up encountering the throat of one of our warriors, giving a penalty try for Munich, fortunately preventing Bégard to have to face the posts again. MRFC still took 7 points and saw their lead increase to 12-3 after a handful a minutes in the game.
Dominating the closed scrum, our forwards could win some precious balls, and repeating a previous scheme seeing Ramathan Govule reaching kings row after a scrum on the 5-meter line. Now warmed-up Federico Bégards could add 2 points to the bill with a neat conversion way out of the centre.
Feeling suspense was going away in this game, the Blues let their guard down for a bit, and Stuttgart didn’t miss an occasion to score their first try on a line-out near MRFC line, closing the gap to 8-19.
Already, Mariano Tano stabbed the receiving team in the back when he scored before half-time a good old fashioned forward try, taking the ball doing the wild boar and tearing everything on the passage. Fred comfortably passed the conversion setting the half-time stand to 8-26.
Chapter Five: The hut fell down on the dog…
Coming back from the changing room, Hugo Bollaert “Goldfingers” could play a proper two on one delivering a piece of jewelry on a nice chistole to his partner in crime Ramathan Govule, who, playing with the sideline, achieved to go over the line and add 7 more points after conversion, letting little chance to Stuttgart to stick again to the scoreboard.
But as expected, Stuttgart’s warriors fought till the end and scored again 7 points on a penalty try. For some moral code reasons, we won’t judge someone in particular for this fault, because it is not our role, as sport reporters to reveal that number 15 Alex Schranz did a tackle a bit too high according to the referee.
The end of the game saw Munich score twice. First on another penalty try and then again by Ramathan Govule. Finally on the last action of the game, MRFC gave away a try to Stuttgart.
Chapter 6: 22-47
A victorious team could return to Munich and celebrate the victory in the Keg bar with the second team also victorious on the same day.
Last Chapter: Two weeks later…
On 17.11.2018 MRFC will receive his next opponent in Großhadern: Heidelberger TV.

München RFC : Stusta Rugby München
17 : 10

The Bavarian capital was surrounded by a tense atmosphere. The streets were empty. Even the flies were not brave enough to go out. On this Saturday, 27th of October, RFC München and Stusta were about to have an 80 minute battle to rule the city. It was derby day.
For his great return, coach Scott Warner brought the nice conditions and weather from Rosebeefland. The frogs were everywhere in Großharden. No offloads were expected, it was all about throwing bricks and destroying the opponent. Both teams were ready to fight. Even Jacob Fafiolu was present. The RFC München needed to find the way to victory again after 2 defeats on their pitch. The bells rang twice, it's 2pm, the referee released the beast. It was on.
The blue lions started well, dominating in the Stusta 22m. Unfortunately, they were rushing things and a bit panicky, playing penalties quickly instead of taking points. Stusta got away from this without any points. MRFC opened the score few moments after this thanks to a penalty converted by their french fly half. 10 minutes of the game, 3-0 on the score table. The SMR got the hand on the ball and joined our lovely team 8 minutes after, 3-3. They kept the possession, but MRFC was defending with rage, especially on their line where they saved a try. However,a mistake came quickly, and the flanker Hugo Boddaert saw yellow for 10 minutes after a silly kick on the ball in a ruck. At 14 against 15, the blues needed to defend even more. Though, after a nice first hand move, Stusta succeeded to break the defence line on their 22m line and scored a try just before half time: 3-10.
MRFC got back from the break fit as ever. Thanks to their destroying scrum, they put Stusta in pain. With a speedy Gonzales start at the back of the scrum, a step in, number 8 Ramadan Govule tricked Stuta defense and scored a try, allowing the lions to come back. 10-10 and 35 minutes left to play. Impacts were tough, and obliged our hooker José Martin to change. Our scum half and captain Antoine Miguet became in charge of line outs and decided to throw nice pizza 4 fromages and amazing calzones. Both teams were aggressive, with a sustained pressure in defense. MRFC were too many times offsides, but thankfully, Stusta's kicker was not having a good day and missed 2 penalities. Everybody thought that this game was going to end without any winner. Hugo Boddeart did not agree with this idea and decided at the last second to start out of nowhere a 50m run, smashing opponents and surfing with the lineout line, to finally score in the corner. He released a team and their amazing supporters with this try, making all of the town blue.
